Quick honey garlic sauce for glazing chicken, salmon, tofu, and vegetables, with a glossy texture ready in about 15 minutes.
This sticky honey garlic sauce is a quick base for weeknight cooking and meal prep. It works as a glaze, drizzle, or stir-fry sauce and keeps well in the fridge.
Honey and brown sugar create a balanced sweetness while soy sauce and rice vinegar keep the flavor from becoming flat. A simple cornflour slurry gives a glossy coating texture that clings to proteins and vegetables.
Adding garlic after heat keeps its flavor bright and less bitter.
Whisk continuously while adding slurry to avoid lumps. Simmer only until the sauce coats a spoon; overcooking can make it too thick.
If needed, thin with a splash of warm water before serving.
Store in a clean jar in the fridge for up to 1 week. Rewarm gently before use.
Try it with chicken, salmon, shrimp, tofu, roasted cauliflower, or rice bowls.
One serving is about 1 tablespoon.
Training day: use over a protein main with rice or potatoes.
Rest day: use a lighter drizzle and pair with extra vegetables.
Protein swaps: chicken, salmon, shrimp, or tofu all work.
Vegetable swaps: broccoli, green beans, spinach, peas, mushrooms, onions, courgette, frozen mixed veg, or tenderstem broccoli.
This sauce is most useful as a finishing glaze rather than a heavy pour-over. Brush it onto roasted salmon, spoon it over crispy chicken, or toss it with stir-fried vegetables right at the end so it stays shiny and balanced.
Keep it chilled in a jar and warm gently before serving if the sauce firms up. A spoonful of water can loosen it if needed without weakening the flavor too much.
