A golden filo tart filled with sautéed mushrooms, melted mozzarella, and semi-hard cheese, perfect for a cozy meal.
This crispy tart brings together buttery filo, earthy mushrooms, and beautifully melted cheese for a cozy, rustic dish that works as a light dinner, a sharable appetizer, or even a brunch centerpiece. 🍄🧀 Its flaky layers contrast with the rich, gooey filling—making every bite irresistible.
The combination of champignons and shiitake gives a deep, rounded mushroom flavor, while mozzarella melts into creamy pockets throughout the tart. Semi-hard cheeses like tomme, cantal, or raclette add a nutty, savory kick that balances the delicacy of the filo. It’s simple, elegant, and surprisingly quick to put together.
The mushrooms are sautéed until their moisture cooks off, concentrating their flavor. A little butter, garlic, and fresh parsley add aromatic depth and a burst of freshness. This mixture becomes the heart of the tart—savory, fragrant, and satisfying.
Filo sheets brushed generously with melted butter create those signature, paper-thin crispy layers. Stacking them in alternating directions forms a rustic, beautiful base that becomes wonderfully golden as it bakes. The folded edges also give the tart a charming, artisanal touch.
Cheese cubes go in first, melting directly into the pastry. The mushrooms follow, releasing just enough flavor to mingle with the cheeses without making the base soggy. Crumbled mozzarella on top ensures a stretchy, creamy finish that bubbles slightly in the oven.
After a short bake, the tart emerges crisp and fragrant, with bronzed edges and a rich, savory aroma. Transfer it carefully to a serving plate and enjoy while warm—the contrast of textures is at its absolute best fresh from the oven.
This tart is lovely with a simple green salad, a spoonful of crème fraîche, or even a drizzle of truffle oil if you’re feeling indulgent. Serve it as a comforting weeknight meal or as a star at your next brunch table.
Enjoy the crispy layers, the melty cheese, and the earthy mushrooms in every bite! 🥰```
