A warm oatmeal breakfast with Caribbean-inspired spices, pistachios and a creamy Greek yogurt swirl.
This oatmeal leans on warm spice rather than heavy sweetness, which makes it a good breakfast base for different toppings. Cinnamon and nutmeg bring most of the flavour, while the yogurt added at the end keeps the bowl creamy without making it overly rich.
For balanced serving guidance, this works well as a breakfast on its own, but it also pairs well with extra fruit if you want more volume. The pistachios add a little texture and fat, which helps the bowl feel more complete.
Oatmeal can turn gluey if it cooks too hard or sits too long, so a gentler simmer usually gives the best texture. The yogurt added at the end softens the finish and makes the oats feel lighter than they would with cream alone, which is part of what keeps this breakfast satisfying without becoming too heavy first thing in the morning.
The spices do most of the flavor work here, so they should be noticeable without completely taking over the bowl. Cinnamon and nutmeg are enough to make the oatmeal feel warm and aromatic while still leaving room for fruit or other toppings if you want to vary it through the week.
This recipe works well for cooler mornings or as a simple post-workout breakfast because it combines oats, yogurt, and nuts in one bowl. Fresh fruit on top makes it feel brighter, while extra yogurt can make the texture a little softer if you prefer less dense oatmeal.
Leftovers can be reheated with a splash of milk or water. That is usually enough to loosen the oats and bring back the creamier consistency.

Stir regularly so the oats do not catch on the bottom of the pot.
Full-fat yogurt gives a richer swirl, but lower-fat yogurt also works.
