Churro Ice Cream with Cinnamon Sugar Crunch

This flavor is less about heat and more about sweet spice. Cinnamon should come through first, followed by buttery pastry notes and a soft vanilla finish from the base.

Flavor Profile

The churro pieces are there to echo the original dessert, but the ice cream still needs a strong cinnamon identity even before the mix-ins go in. That keeps the flavor recognizable in every scoop.

Ingredient Highlights

Texture is the main technical challenge. Churro-style pieces and sugar additions soften quickly in frozen dairy, so they need to be added late and stored cold.

Serving Notes

Serve this with a drizzle of caramel or a light dusting of extra cinnamon sugar if you want a more obvious dessert effect, but the base should still stand on its own.

What Helps The Churro Pieces Hold Up

The mix-ins should go into the churned base as late as possible. If they sit in the dairy too long before freezing, they soften and lose the contrast that makes the flavor read as churro rather than just cinnamon ice cream.

The base itself should still taste clearly of cinnamon even before the mix-ins go in. That way every scoop feels recognizable whether you get a lot of pastry pieces or not.

Storage And Serving Ideas

Serve this in bowls, cones, or with warm chocolate sauce if you want a more dessert-like finish. It also works well with dulce de leche or a little extra cinnamon sugar on top.

Let it soften briefly before scooping so the frozen base loosens at the same rate as the churro pieces. That keeps the texture more even from scoop to scoop.
